BALTIMORE: Joining such well-known organizations as Harper Collins Publishing and Highlights Magazine, Imaginator Press is working with BookAdventure.org to build literacy for children in grades K-8. From February through April, Imaginator Press will offer copies of its acclaimed young adult fantasy novel, The Dark Dreamweaver, written by Nick Ruth and illustrated by Sue Concannon, as prizes on Book Adventure's Web site.

Book Adventure, founded and sponsored by Sylvan Learning Center, is an online reading motivation program for elementary and middle school students. The program is designed to encourage children to read more often, for longer periods of time, and with greater understanding. Children create their own book lists from over 6,800 recommended titles, take multiple-choice quizzes on books they've read off-line, and earn prizes for their literary successes.

Students, who participate at no cost, earn points by answering quizzes about books they've read. Once they earn 3,500 points—roughly equivalent to 17 quizzes on books in their own grade level—they can redeem the points for prizes, including a copy of The Dark Dreamweaver. Educators and parents can help children log on at bookadventure.org, and create their account. Imaginator expects to donate about 100 books through the program, and will extend the giveaway if interest is strong.

In The Dark Dreamweaver, Ruth's richly textured young adult fantasy novel: David, a boy from our own world, visits Remin, the world of dreams...does battle with the evil sorcerer Thane...and is aided by an imprisoned wizard battling the dream thief.

The Dark Dreamweaver was named an American Booksellers Association Book Sense Children's Pick and praised in several national and Maryland publications—including Heartland Review, Midwest Book Review, Independent Publisher and others. Ruth is already hard at work on a sequel.

Journalists: Ruth is available for interviews and the book is available for review.
